Bio-Products
Kao Chemicals’ Bio products help customers convert renewable resources into valuable, high-performance bio-based outputs using chemistry-led biotechnology. Saccharification enzymes enable efficient biomass-to-sugars conversion from non-food feedstocks. For the production of Bioaromatics, bio-based routes are chosen for producing aromatic compounds at industrial scale from biomass using fermentation-driven manufacturing. Bioprocess agents are designed to strengthen fermentation performance and support more consistent product quality. They also address common manufacturing challenges, such as bacterial contamination defects, while simplifying downstream processing.
Saccharification Ezyme Technology
Biofuels are produced in a high portion using plant-based starch or sugars. These can be easily converted into materials like bio-ethanol. Non-edable biomass like agricultural residue, wood residues or herbaceous plants consists often of cellulosic materials, which are not easily convertible. In a first step these need to be broken down into smaller molecules, which can be better processed. This can be done by Saccharification enzymes (for example Crescentis) produced with the unique technology developed by Kao.
Bioaromatics
Bio-based aromatics are renewable aromatic chemical compounds derived from biomass (such as wood, agricultural residues, and sugars) rather than fossil fuels. Kao has developed a fermentative production technology that uses microorganisms to produce gallic acid from glucose. Gallic acid is a basic raw material used in a wide variety of business fields, including electronics, industry and food.
Bioprocess agents
Kao provides various solutions based on our knowledge of fermentation process control and resin modifiers that we have cultivated over the years. With our bioprocess agents we focus on bactericides, defoamer, enzymes, detergents and aids for powdering and molding processes.
