Kao Chemicals Announces Strategic Distribution Agreement with Brenntag Specialties LLC

Kao Chemicals is pleased to announce a new strategic distribution agreement with Brenntag Specialties LLC, covering the East Coast and Southern regions of the United States. This collaboration will allow Brenntag Specialties to distribute Kao’s innovative and sustainable specialty surfactants across the Personal Care and Household, Industrial & Institutional (HI&I) industries.

Kao Chemicals Europe has obtained ISCC PLUS certification at its Germany facility, Kao Chemicals GmbH. This certification supports the use of more sustainable raw materials—including biological, circular, and renewable energy sources—positively impacting key product lines like EMAL, AKYPO, and AMIDET. With a focus on reducing emissions and addressing climate change, Kao is committed to expanding its portfolio of sustainable, low-impact products.

Kao is under the top-scorers of the Shared Responsibility Scorecard prepared by Round Table for Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO). Kao recognizes that its business is dependent on natural capital and strives to procure natural resources sustainably. Kao is now one of the top-scorers and mentioned very high in the Shared Responsibility Scorecard with the maximum number of points possible, demonstrating our sustainability leadership and commitment to transform our business.

Newtlac Technology Makes European Debut: Transforming Recycled PET into Sustainable, High-Performance Asphalt

Kao has introduced its innovative Newtlac technology to Europe, marking a significant step in sustainable road construction. Newtlac, a patented pavement modifier made from recycled PET, integrates plastic waste into asphalt mixtures, improving both workability and pavement durability. In a recent trial at Kao’s Olesa plant, 30 tons of D12 asphalt were produced using Newtlac, resulting in excellent performance and application. Already proven in Asia and the U.S., this European debut highlights Newtlac’s potential to support environmental sustainability and the circular economy.
